Responsibilities

• Assisting in developing functional/system analysis to define facility/system design requirements.
• Assisting in establishing the means of verifying requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria.
• Assisting in the preparation of system and facility design criteria documents.
• Supporting system-level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specification, and requirements flow down and traceability.
• Assisting in the preparation of assessments to validate and verify implementation and traceability of requirements into design.
• Participating in technical discussions to resolve system design issues.
• Researching and documenting system operations and limits from the review of design and basis documents and from discussions with system designers.
• Performing model-based systems engineering using COTS tools such as DOORS or Innoslate.

• Salary Range: $84,204 - $101,052 annually (salary range is based on market data; final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.)


• A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.).

Work Location & Assignments:

Opportunities are available across Bechtel's Global Business Units (GBU) and functional organizations. Final assignment location, business unit placement, and specific responsibilities will be determined based on business needs, candidate qualifications, and organizational priorities.

Assignments may be located in a project field environment, regional office, or corporate office setting depending on business needs. Successful candidates should be flexible and willing to work in a variety of locations and environments in support of Bechtel's projects and business operations. This may include opportunities at construction sites, project execution offices, or functional and corporate service organizations.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in defining facility/system functions, behaviors, and other design requirements. You will perform system‑level design verification and test requirements specifications. You will compile, adjust, and correlate data that will develop your professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard systems engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assisting in developing functional/system analysis to define facility/system design requirements.


• Assisting in establishing the means of verifying requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria.


• Assisting in the preparation of system and facility design criteria documents.


• Supporting system‑level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specification, and requirements flow down and traceability.


• Assisting in the preparation of assessments to validate and verify implementation and traceability of requirements into design.


• Participating in technical discussions to resolve system design issues.


• Researching and documenting system operations and limits from the review of design and basis documents and from discussions with system designers.


• Performing model‑based systems engineering using commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) automation tools (e.g.,IBMRationale Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) or Innoslate by Spec Innovations).

Education and Experience Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited college or university


• Eligible for the University Hire Program (typically hired within 12 months of graduation)


• Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites.


• Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.


• Must be able to pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Member of the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE)


• Prior co‑op or internship experience.


• Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA.


• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
