Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Intern, Thermal Mechanical Engineer Intern to join the Space Systems Sector in Hanover, MD. The successful candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Eastern Engineering Space Division and support thermal-mechanical engineering tasks for space systems.

Ideal candidates are enrolled full-time in a mechanical or aerospace engineering program, available for 10 weeks in summer 2027, and able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027.
• Majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (or related).
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
• Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Eastern Engineering Space Division.

Basic Qualifications

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

• Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027
• Be majoring in or having majored in a Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related.
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027
• Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Preferred Qualifications:

Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher

Hanover, MD Intern Rates: Bachelors: $25.50 - $31.00 Masters: $36.25 - $38.00
