Job summary

Butterball is seeking a motivated student for a 10-12 week Supply Chain Intern position at our Mount Olive, NC facility. You’ll join a dynamic team to support projects that optimize production planning, logistics, and MES-related activities as part of our manufacturing operations.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop analytical skills, and gain hands-on experience with Microsoft Office tools and SAP S/4HANA in a real-world food production environment.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or related field with expected graduation between Dec 2027 and Jun 2030.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to work.
  • Proficiency using PC-based applications (Microsoft Office).
  • Analytical, programming and tool-building skills using Excel Power Query and Macros.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of inventory, production, transportation or material planning is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; willing to travel to other locations.

Responsibilities

  • Support a project in plant production around MES (Management Excellence Systems).
  • Develop, refine and execute models to create a flow of product meeting demand.
  • Assist with design, documentation, implementation, enhancements, support and training of the S4 Hana system at production sites.

Our supply chain operations team is at the heart of our business, orchestrating a dynamic range of tasks that ensure our products reach customers seamlessly. We manage everything from the intricate logistics of shipping and distribution to meticulous planning and coordination. In this role, you'll collaborate with diverse teams, diving into projects that align with your unique skills and passions. Each day presents an exciting challenge as you contribute to optimizing our supply chain and driving our success. You will work with a variety of teams to support a particular project that best suits your skills and interests.

The program’s primary objective is to grow future leaders by providing professional development and a series of assignments that aligns with professional interest within the processing and manufacturing industry.

What you’ll do:
  • Projects- You will support a project in plant production around MES (Management Excellence Systems).
  • Responsibilities-
  • Develop, refine and execute models to create a flow of product that consistently meets demand.
  • Assist with design, documentation, implementation, enhancements, support and training of the S4 Hana system at one or many production sites.

  • All participants in this program are required to have a valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Proficiency using PC-based applications (such as Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and/or Access).

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to other locations.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate equipment, computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally climb and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements
  • Work will be performed in a manufacturing plant environment with varying conditions, such as cold areas, wet areas, warm areas, chemicals, and other site conditions.
  • This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment while in the manufacturing environment.
  • The noise level in the manufacturing environment may exceed 85 DBA and require hearing protection.
