Job summary

Granite is seeking an intern for a safety-focused role in Everett, WA. You will promote safety programs, assist in implementing safety measures, and conduct inspections to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.

You’ll participate in safety meetings, support regulatory investigations, and help with job hazard analyses, while gaining exposure to insurance coordination and benefits. This role requires travel and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Safety or Occupational Health.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to teach, mentor, and lead.
• Willingness to travel frequently.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Promote compliance with the company safety program and local accident prevention efforts to meet safety goals.
• Assist in developing and implementing safety-related programs to meet or exceed company standards.
• Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits focusing on hazard recognition, unsafe behaviors, and correction of potential losses.
• Assist in preparing and conducting safety meetings and training to communicate company policies and safety standards effectively.
• Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Assist in developing and reviewing job hazard analyses for major work phases to ensure safe completion.
• Assist in investigating, preparing, and maintaining records of third party, asset loss, and worker's compensation claims to protect company interests.
• Coordinate with the corporate insurance department to ensure timely resolution of claims.

About You

Compensation & Benefits

• Base hourly wage of $27.00, subject to variation based on experience, skills, location, and education.

Physical Demands

The role requires regular talking and hearing, frequent standing, walking, sitting, and computer use. Occasional reaching, climbing stairs and ladders in construction or plant environments, and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include at least 20/30 Snellen in one eye and 20/50 in the other, with or without corrective lenses. Adequate hearing and ability to distinguish colors are necessary.
