Job summary

Leonardo DRS in Dallas, TX is seeking a Summer Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 12–14 week, paid internship under a 9/80 schedule. You’ll work closely with Electrical Engineers in EOIS, gain hands-on experience, and participate in projects from start to finish in a collaborative environment.

As an intern, you’ll collaborate with engineers, perform basic testing and design analyses, and develop skills across CAD tools and engineering practices while embracing the company culture and values.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program or 2-year Masters in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Enrolled as a Junior or Senior with GPA ≥ 3.0 at time of application.
  • Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to build a network.
  • Diligent, hardworking, quick study.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in various engineering assignments.
  • Carry out basic work instructions to understand fundamentals of the company.
  • Conduct limited scope testing under supervision.
  • Perform design analysis and/or calculations under supervision.
  • Assist engineers with design details.
  • Build a good network through interpersonal skills.
  • Perform tasks to gain familiarity with staff, methods, programs and practices.
  • Knowledge of CAD (CREO) preferred.
  • Support and align with company mission and culture.
