Job summary

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston, NC seeks a Summer Intern - Human Resources to join our HR Team. You will gain exposure to HR Operations, Recruitment, Compensation & Benefits, Employee Relations and more.

Role involves on-site work, project mentorship, and a presentation with the executive team and CEO roundtable discussion. Must be enrolled in a related degree and able to work onsite in Kinston, NC for the summer.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a relevant college/university degree program.
• Pursuing a degree in Human Resources preferred.
• Ability to work onsite in Kinston, NC for the Summer Internship period.
• Proficient in Microsoft/Google Suite.
• Effective communication with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Administrative: Assist HR/People Operations administrations including recruitment, onboarding, paperwork, drug & alcohol program.
• Create/maintain personnel, benefit, and electronic job files.
• Create/maintain PO/PR for HR functions.
• Data entry into ADP/SAP/LMS; assist with employee questions.
• Prepare outgoing mail/shipments; order supplies; send birthday cards/sympathy memorials.
• Support 90-day performance reviews scheduling and monthly reports.

In this role you’ll get exposure to multiple areas of our site HR team spanning across HR Operations, Recruitment, Compensation & Benefits, Employee Relations, and other areas.

Your Working Environment

The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Program Highlights

• Participation in the Summer 2027 Intern Program: May 17th - August 6th 2027
• Intern project focused on supporting our Positive Employee Relations (PER) Team in preparing our site for further expansion and growth
• Dedicated project mentor
• Project presentation with executive team and CEO roundtable discussion

Your Challenges

• Administrative: 70% Assist with the HR/People Operations administrations to include recruitment, on boarding, administrative paperwork, drug & alcohol program, etc.
• Create/maintain files: personnel, benefit, and electronic job folders, etc.
• Create/maintain PO/PR for HR, etc.
• Data entry into ADP/SAP/LMS Assist with employee questions
• Prepare outgoing mail/shipments; order supplies
• Send birthday cards and/or sympathy memorials
• Compliance: 15% Schedule and track 90-day performance reviews Monthly reports, as needed
• Employee Event Planning: 15% Assist with Service awards and birthday celebrations
• Assist with Employee Engagement Events
• Assist with Diversity and Inclusion events, as necessary
• Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.

Your Boarding Pass

• Currently enrolled in a relevant college/university degree program, required
• Seeking degree in Human Resources, preferred
• Able to work onsite in Kinston, NC for duration of Summer Internship, required
• Skilled in the use of computer/programs to include Microsoft/Google Suite of products
• Communicate effectively in verbal and written form with internal and external customers
• Must be well organized and have good time management skills
• Ability to work in the US without current or future need for sponsorship/work authorization is required for this job opportunity

Physical Requirements

• Onsite: 100%
• Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Required daily.
• Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Required daily.
• Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Required daily.
• Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment. Required daily.
• Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily
• Lifting: able to lift documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily
• Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Rarely required.
• Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. Required daily.
• Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Required infrequently.
• Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. Required daily.
• Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Approximately 5% - 10%.
• Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Required daily.
• Personal Protective Equipment required: steel toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor
