Desk Description We are looking for Summer Interns to join our Strategic Planning functions: Transformation and Change Management Group Drives SMBC AD’s enterprise transformation agenda, delivering Target Operating Model and Front Office enablement to support business growth. The team manages complex, cross-functional programs across AD CxOs, the three lines of defense, and Group companies, while establishing consistent project management standards, governance, and reporting for material initiatives. It also develops centralized MIS and dashboards to enhance decision-making, embeds sustainability into processes, and leads efforts to implement scalable, compliant processes and systems in partnership with Finance, Technology, Risk, and Compliance. Key Skills and Interests for these areas include: Project Management, including business case development, project planning, execution monitoring, and status reporting Manage project risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies to ensure the success of strategic initiatives in a dynamic financial environment Organizational Change Management, including stakeholder engagement, communication planning, and adoption strategies to drive successful transformation outcomes Project budgeting and forecasting Data Analysis, including data collection, interpretation, and reporting Effective communication and collaboration Attention to detail and a strong analytical mindset Program Details How Our Program Works Our Summer Intern Program is designed for students who completed their junior year. This 10-week program commences in June and includes: Orientation Training with on-the-desk experience Senior Speaker Series Japanese cultural activities Social networking activities Volunteer Day with a local nonprofit Mentorship opportunity with both a junior and senior mentor at SMBC The successful candidate will possess or demonstrate the following personal and professional attributes: Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028; excellent academic record Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validity Ability to comfortably interact with clients in a professional and mature manner Outstanding ethics, integrity, and judgment Intellectual curiosity SMBC’s employees participate in a hybrid workforce model that provides employees with an opportunity to work from home, as well as, from an SMBC office. SMBC requires that employees live within a reasonable commuting distance of their office location. Prospective candidates will learn more about their specific hybrid work schedule during their interview process.
