Job summary

ICF is seeking interns for the Energy Efficiency Division to support multiple projects and gain hands-on experience with experts and clients. Interns will contribute to developing high-quality products and services while applying academic knowledge in a real-world setting.

This is an entry-level, 10-week, full-time internship beginning in early June 2027 with remote work from MA, NY, or NJ and occasional in-office meetings.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking interns to provide utility program support for ICF’s Energy Efficiency Division. Interns will contribute to the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. Interns at ICF have an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge, gain exposure to major projects, interact with experts and clients in the field, and build content knowledge and consulting skills.

This is an entry-level, 10-week, full-time internship beginning in early June 2027. ICF is hiring multiple interns for Operations and Delivery roles. Work will be remote from MA, NY, or NJ with the opportunity for occasional in office meetings. Pay is expected to be $23 per hour. At this time, relocation and housing assistance is not available for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

• Assisting with data collection and data analysis
• Creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets and databases for internal tracking and project management
• Supporting client-facing semi-annual reporting efforts
• Assisting in preparation of internal and client deliverables
• Helping to document processes and develop process improvements and/or automation
• Contributing to energy analysis and measure development (skillset dependent)

Delivery

• Supporting Program Delivery teams with client presentations and relaying key program results both internally and to clients
• Developing program opportunities to support client clean energy goals
• Reviewing existing program processes to identify areas for efficiency opportunities
• Coordinating and collaborating with program implementation team members as well as other departments such as marketing, IT and customer care
• Ongoing communications with participating service providers to collect information and assess opportunities for program improvement (role dependent)
• Preparing and reviewing technical specifications and calculations for energy efficiency measures and projects (skillset dependent)

Basic Qualifications:

• By start date, a minimum of 30 completed college-level credit hours is required preferably energy or environment, business, economics, engineering or related subject
• Must be able to pass any required background check(s), which may include drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent quantitative/analytical skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of project management principles
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Strong organizational, time-management, and detail-orientation skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$37,855.00 - $64,354.00
