Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking summer interns for a ~10 week program in New Brunswick, NJ, working on novel analytical methods, separation science, and PAT for drug product development. Interns will develop, troubleshoot, and execute methods, analyze data, and collaborate with formulation scientists, analysts, and engineers.
Program includes orientation, mentor program, hands-on training in manufacturing and testing labs, and a final presentation.
At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, "Who are you working for?"-a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it.
Drug Product Development works with colleagues throughout the entire pharmaceutical development process, from discovery to commercial launch and beyond, to develop the formulations and processes that bring drug products from the lab to patients. We are looking for candidates who are proven team players; appreciate the challenge of pursuing unique scientific discovery in an emerging field; and who demonstrate solid operational, interpersonal, project management and collaborative skills. We believe this starts with our summer intern program.
Summer interns will work with mentors for ~10 weeks on a guided research project related to novel analytical methods, separation science, and process analytics (PAT) for drug product development. Depending on experience and interests, projects may include field-flow fractionation (asymmetric flow FFF with MALS, DLS, UV, and RI detection) to characterize nanoparticles, aggregates, polymers, and lipid‑based excipients; emerging chromatography (SEC‑MALS, 2D‑LC, SFC, HILIC, and mixed‑mode separations with PDA, CAD, ELSD, and high‑resolution MS) to assess purity, related impurities, and degradation; excipient analysis of polymers, surfactants, lipids, and sugars; and in‑line and at‑line PAT tools and spectroscopy (Raman, NIR, IR) with chemometric models. Interns will develop, troubleshoot, and execute analytical methods, analyze, review, and document data in compliance with company requirements, and collaborate with formulation scientists, analytical chemists, process engineers, and process modelers. The program is organized to ensure that interns gain valuable industry and functional experience, work on challenging assignments, learn about BMS and meet diverse company representatives.
