General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is offering a Summer Intern position in Information Technology at our St. Petersburg, FL campus. The internship runs from May 17 to August 5, 2027, in-person, with hands-on exposure to various IT responsibilities.

You will support technical staff, assist with tasks and projects, and gain experience across multiple IT functions. This role is intended for students pursuing IT or CS degrees and requires enrollment in related coursework or nearing

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in related technical courses or within 6 months of graduation.
• Discipline/major: Information Technology or Computer Science preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team.

Job Summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Intern to join our team. In this role, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in various business functions while contributing to the success of the team.

This internship is in-person at our St. Petersburg, FL location during the dates of May 17th to August 5th, 2027.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Provides support to technical employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study.
• Assists with technical tasks and project support.
• Supports equipment set up and monitors tests and experiments.
• Observes results, collects data, and compiles summaries and reports.
• Learns technical processes and procedures.
• Job shadows other more experienced professionals and or support staff.
• May also support the documentation & updates of procedures or work instructions.
• Handles basic issues and problems

Additional Responsibilities

• Supports end-user requests for technical assistance by phone, email, or ticketing system.
• Assists with troubleshooting and resolving basic computer, application, system, device, access, or performance issues.
• Uses established processes and procedures to document, track, and resolve reported problems and to meet operational service levels and standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Required education and experience: Must be currently enrolled in related Technical courses or be within 6 months of graduation; No prior experience needed.
• Must be enrolled in a technical college or degree-seeking program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Discipline/Major: Information Technology or Computer Science degree preferred.
• Knowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to work as part of a team. Oral and written communication skills. Attentiveness. Ability to understand and follow directions.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Requires regular movement throughout GDOTS facilities.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
• This position is Safety-sensitive.
