Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking Finance/Accounting/Tax Interns for a hybrid role in Northbrook, IL or Chicago, IL. The internship spans FP&A, Tax, Accounting, Sourcing, and more, with a 10-12 week project and networking opportunities.

You'll work in teams such as FP&A, Real Estate Finance, Sourcing, and Controllership, performing data extraction, budgeting, and financial reporting. Earn $25/hour with potential relocation housing/travel support.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and interpret information from diverse sources.
• Working knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting through education or internship experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with business ERPs (Oracle, NetSuite) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Extract data from financial systems and perform analyses to explain variances or inform business cases.
• Assist in budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans with timely inputs and summaries.
• Prepare financial entries, reconcile accounts, and summarize trends for reports.
• Research the impact of accounting standards or strategy changes on projects.
• Support shared services like credit, billing, and accounts payable to improve efficiency.
• Contribute to due diligence and integration for acquisitions and ROI-focused projects.
• Perform other duties as directed.

This role is hybrid - 3 days a week on-site at the Northbrook or Chicago Office.

Responsibilities

Our Finance/Accounting Internship has assignments that span the areas of Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, Accounting, Sourcing, Business Services (Credit & collections, Accounts Payable), and Business Division Support.

As a Finance/Accounting intern you will work within one of the following teams:

• Financial Planning & Analysis
• Operational Finance
• Real Estate/Facilities Finance
• Sourcing
• Internal Audit
• Controllership
• GL Accounting
• Reporting/Consolidations

Specific Responsibilities

• Extract data from financial systems and perform financial analyses to explain variances in financial performance of various organization segments, or to develop a business case for an investment project, or to assess the impact of changes to a business process.
• Participate in the development of budgets, forecasts, or strategic plans. This participation would include managing complete and timely inputs, compiling the data, summarizing it for management review and investigating variation from expected outcomes.
• Prepare asset, liability and capital account entries. Assist in the preparation of financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information and trends. Perform account reconciliations.
• Participate in the research and analysis of the impact of changes in accounting standards or company strategies or other special projects.
• Work on projects that will improve efficiency, improve service levels and lower the cost of operations for shared service processes such as credit, billing, collections, cash applications and accounts payable.
• Support business case development, due diligence and integration for company acquisitions.
• Assist project managers in developing business cases and utilizing practices that will improve ROI on key capital investments.
• Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications

• Rising senior currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or similar area.
• Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and interpret information from diverse sources.
• Working knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting through education or internship experience.
• Demonstrated ability to use MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point).
• Experience working with business ERPs (Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) is a plus.
• Indefinite right to work in the United States.

What we offer:

Total Rewards: The hourly rate for this role is $25.00. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus to assist with housing, travel, and other relocation expenses, subject to terms and conditions. Your internship will consist of a 10-12 week long project, networking, learning & development opportunities, and will provide you with the opportunity to make a real world impact.
