Job description

    • Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • This is a paid, full-time, 11-week internship designed to give you real-world experience and meaningful exposure to the telecommunications industry in your chosen field.
  • Internship program runs from May 26 through August 6, 2027.
  • In addition to role-specific projects, you'll take part in professional development sessions, networking opportunities, mentorship and experiences that help you grow personally and professionally.

What you can expect in this role

As a Spectrum intern, you'll spend the summer working alongside two teams: your respective department and your intern cohort.

Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You'll spend the other 20% on internship experiences that include a kickoff conference, professional development sessions and networking activities, webinars, community service, cross-functional projects and final presentations.

This experience is designed to help you explore your interests, expand your network and leave with a deeper understanding of both your field and the impact of our business.

Internship responsibilities may include:
  • The Wireline-TSI team is responsible for evaluating and developing next-generation RF hardware technologies that will enable the future evolution of broadband access networks. The team works with industry partners, semiconductor manufacturers, and equipment vendors to assess new component-level designs, validate emerging RF technologies, and develop hardware architectures supporting broadband systems beyond today's HFC networks. This internship provides hands-on experience in RF component evaluation, laboratory testing, hardware characterization, and prototype development while contributing to technology assessments that influence future network architecture and industry standards.
  • Support the development and evaluation of RF hardware components through laboratory testing, prototype validation, performance characterization, data analysis, and technical documentation. Collaborate with senior engineers and external partners to assess emerging technologies and contribute to proof-of-concept hardware development for next-generation broadband networks.
Required qualifications
  • Must be a rising senior with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a bachelor's degree.
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program.
  • Ability to travel locally to Spectrum intern development events and activities throughout the program.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering: Electromagnetics, testing RF devices, component level hardware background.
