Job summary

Butterball is offering a 10–12 week Feed Mill Intern program across Midwest locations in Ozark, AR, Yellville, AR, or Sherwin, KS. Interns will learn feed manufacturing, ingredient management, and participate in safety and maintenance initiatives.

You will work alongside experienced leaders to gain hands-on exposure to operations, data analysis, and continuous improvement projects while developing professional skills for a career in processing and manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agribusiness, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Expected graduation date December 2028 through June 2029.
• Willingness to work in a feed mill environment and travel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Learn the day-to-day operations of a feed mill, including feed manufacturing and ingredient management.
• Partner with mill leaders and team members to support production, maintenance, and safety initiatives.
• Assist with projects focused on process improvement, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.

Over the course of 10-12 weeks, as a Feed Mill Intern, you'll work in one of the Midwest Feed Mill facilities located in Ozark, AR, Yellville, AR, or Sherwin, KS. As a Feed Mill Intern, you'll learn how feed is manufactured and delivered to support turkey production. You'll gain hands‑on exposure to feed mill operations, maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement while working alongside experienced leaders and team members.

The program’s primary objective is to grow future leaders by providing professional development and a series of assignments that align with professional interest within the processing and manufacturing industry.

• Ability to work in a feed mill environment, including exposure to dust, varying temperatures, noise, and heights.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate equipment, computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally climb and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements

• Work will be performed in a variety of conditions including a climate-controlled office environment(s), outdoor farm locations, and in a manufacturing plant environment with varying conditions, such as cold areas, wet areas, warm areas, chemicals, and other site conditions.
• This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment while in the manufacturing environment.
• The noise level of the office environment is usually moderate; the noise level in the manufacturing environment may exceed 85 DBA and require hearing protection.
• Travel is required.
