Job summary

KKR invites applications for the Summer Analyst Program in our Des Moines, IA insurance actuarial team. You will gain experience in modeling and valuation while collaborating with Actuarial professionals, with potential for a 2028 full-time offer for top performers.

You will work on US Statutory, Tax and GAAP reserves, plus develop automation via Python/VBA, Markdown documentation, and AI coding tools, gaining exposure to regression analyses and regulatory processes.

Qualifications

  • Anticipated graduation date from an undergraduate program in December 2027 - June 2028.
  • Area of study in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Completion of at least one Society of Actuaries exam required.
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Coding experience in Python or other modern programming languages preferred.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants to accelerate development and debugging.
  • Comfort writing and maintaining documentation in Markdown.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate US Statutory, Tax, and GAAP reserves.
  • Provide analysis for statutory and GAAP balances and earnings impacts.
  • Assist with onboarding of new reinsurance deals.
  • Conduct annual impact testing for assumption changes.
  • Support audit and regulatory requests.

  • Identify process improvements; develop macros/scripts (Python/VBA), Markdown docs, and workflows.

KKR's 2027 Summer Analyst Program is an opportunity for you to join a leading global investment firm, during your undergraduate career.

We are recruiting for Summer Analysts for KKR's Insurance business in our Des Moines office within our Actuarial business. While the role will differ slightly across teams, Actuarial Summer Analysts will gain experience in modeling and/or valuation through working both independently and with Actuarial team members. Following the conclusion of the internship, 2028 full-time offers may be extended to exceptional performers.

Responsibilities
  • Calculate US Statutory, Tax, and GAAP reserves
  • Provide analysis for both statutory and GAAP balances and earnings impacts
  • Assist with the onboarding of new reinsurance deals
  • Conduct annual impact testing for potential assumption changes
  • Support audit and regulatory requests
  • Support the development and maintenance of the ALFA and Integrate actuarial models
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including developing macros/scripts (e.g., in Python or VBA), leveraging AI coding assistants, and enhancing file formats, documentation (e.g., Markdown), and workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
  • Anticipated graduation date from an undergraduate program in December 2027 - June 2028
  • Area of study in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
  • Completion of at least one Society of Actuaries exam required
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Coding experience in Python or other modern programming languages preferred (VBA experience also valued)
  • Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate development and debugging
  • Comfort writing and maintaining documentation in Markdown
  • Exposure to machine learning concepts, including reinforcement learning techniques, is a plus
  • Outstanding academic record
  • Comfort using AI tools to improve productivity and quality of work
  • Curiosity about and openness to adopting emerging AI technologies in day-to-day workflows
  • Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy and relevance
  • Strong critical and creative thinking across quantitative and qualitative work
  • Self-starter with intellectual curiosity and a drive to learn quickly
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work both independently and within teams
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional work ethic and sense of urgency

This is the expected annual base salary range for this Iowa-based position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.

Base Salary Range $70,000 - $75,000 USD
