Job summary

Select Sires, Inc. in Plain City, OH is seeking a Data Analytics Intern. This temporary, full-time, hourly, non-exempt role reports to the Lead Data Analyst and runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

You will work on business-driven data projects, translate findings into insights, and present recommendations to leadership. Ideal candidates are current students in dairy/agriculture or data science fields with curiosity, collaboration skills, and a desire to learn Databricks, SQL, Python, and Power

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student in a related field (see above).
• Strong interest in dairy/beef industry preferred.
• Willingness to learn data tools and apply insights to business problems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive representation of the company mission and core values.
• Contribute to a business-driven data project applying core analyst responsibilities.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and desired outcomes.
• Explore data from multiple sources to identify trends and opportunities.
• Develop reports, visualizations, or models translating data to insights.

Select Sires, Inc. is currently seeking candidates to join our team as a Data Analytics Intern. This temporary full-time, hourly, non-exempt position is at our Plain City, OH facility and reports to the Lead Data Analyst.

Specific duties and responsibilities of a Data Analytics Intern include, but are not limited to,

• Explore data from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities
• Develop reports, visualizations, or models that translate data into meaningful business insights
• Share findings and recommendations with IT and business leadership through a final presentation

A Data Analytics Intern 's work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM –4:30 PM. Work schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental needs.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF A DATA ANALYTICS INTERN:

• Strong curiosity and eagerness to learn how data supports decision-making across the business
• Willingness to explore new tools, methods, and problem-solving approaches
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business teams, including remote colleagues
• Strong communication skills with an interest in translating data into meaningful insights

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF A DATA ANALYTICS INTERN:

• Exposure to or interest in Databricks, SQL, Python, or BI tools such as Power BI
• Familiarity with agricultural data or a strong interest in learning how data impacts the dairy and beef industries
• Enthusiasm for connecting technical skills with real-world business challenges
• Desire to bring fresh ideas and perspectives to data projects

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF A DATA ANALYTICS INTERN :

• Undergraduate or graduate student in Dairy Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Strong background or interest in the dairy or beef industry is strongly preferred
