Job summary

IBM in Armonk, NY, invites you to join the Risk Management & Controls Intern program for a 12-week summer experience. You will analyze financial, operational, and compliance risks across the Americas, contribute to control reviews, and develop analytical and presentation skills.

You will collaborate with Sales, Finance, Compliance, Audit, Legal, and Operations, and gain exposure to enterprise risk management with ongoing mentorship and a high-visibility summer project.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Supply Chain, Information Systems, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with an interest in understanding business processes and risks.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful insights.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Risk Management & Controls team in identifying and analyzing financial, operational, and compliance risks across the Americas region.
  • Assist with reviews and assessments to help evaluate whether risks are being appropriately identified, mitigated, and managed.
  • Conduct research, data analysis, and process reviews to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support root cause and gap analysis activities to help uncover improvement opportunities within existing processes and controls.
  • Assist in tracking action plans, control activities, audit observations, and remediation efforts.
  • Help prepare monthly and quarterly controls metrics, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Finance, Compliance, Audit, Legal, and Operations to gain exposure to IBM's business processes.
  • Explore the use of AI tools to help automate, simplify, and improve business workflows.
  • Support Partner Ecosystem integrity and controls activities, including data gathering, tracking, and reporting.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and learning opportunities to build knowledge of risk management, internal controls, and compliance practices.
  • Complete a summer project and present findings and recommendations to team leadership at the conclusion of the internship.

Job description

As a Risk Management & Controls Intern, you will gain hands‑on experience supporting IBM's Americas Risk Management & Controls team.
