Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA is offering a 10-week full-time Graduate Intern position in the Radiation Effects group within the Microelectronics Technology Department. You will assist with experiments and simulations of radiation effects on space-grade microelectronics for space systems.

You will assemble test setups, work with an interdisciplinary team, and apply standard techniques under mentorship. Strong candidates are enrolled in a Masters or PhD program and can obtain a U.S.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled full-time in a Masters or PhD program in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks and return to degree program afterward.
  • Undergraduate degree completed by internship start date.
  • Coursework related to semiconductor physics.
  • Experience with C++, JavaScript, MATLAB, Xilinx ISE, Assembly language, AutoCAD, Python or related programming/simulation.
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, ICs, microcontrollers and circuits.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 and U.S. citizenship to obtain security clearance (transcripts required).

Responsibilities

  • Assists with radiation testing and characterization of microelectronic devices and simulations of related circuitry operations.
  • Assembles experimental electrical test setups.
  • Participates with an interdisciplinary team in ongoing research or technical programs.
  • Applies or updates standard techniques and procedures to carry out prescribed tasks.

MTD conducts basic and applied research in microelectronic and optoelectronic devices for space applications, providing technical support to national security space programs.
