Job summary

AbbVie Inc. in North Chicago, IL seeks a Packaging Engineering Co-Op for a six-month paid program working on meaningful packaging projects. You will gain exposure to multiple formats and materials while housing and shuttle support may be provided.

Expected to work at least three days per week from our North Chicago campus. Applicants must be enrolled in a related degree program, returning after the co-op, with an expected graduation window of 2027–2029.

• Must be returning to university the semester after the Co-Op.
• Expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2029.

Responsibilities

• Packaging development and testing for new projects.
• Test protocol and test execution.
• Material identification, selection and specifications.
• Data mining for standardization opportunities.
• Sustainability and packaging improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate and perform independent and team experiments in lab and manufacturing plants.

Job Description

As an AbbVie Packaging Engineering Co-Op, you’ll participate in a paid, six-month program working on meaningful assignments that have a real impact on our business and patients worldwide. AbbVie’s Global Packaging organization offers you an opportunity to work in a variety of packaging formats and materials. Throughout the duration, there will be developmental and networking activities, along with housing and shuttle services for eligible students. Co-Op’s will be expected to work from our North Chicago campus headquartered in north suburban Chicago, at least three days per week, in accordance with company policy.

• Packaging development and testing for new projects

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Packaging or related field

• Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and project management skills
• Proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative and integrity
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Strong academic performance
