Job summary

Barclays is offering a Summer Internship in Operations at our Whippany, NJ campus. The program spans 10 weeks and provides hands‑on experience, meaningful responsibilities, and opportunities to build lasting connections while exploring our culture.

You’ll join the Operations team, work on real projects, and gain exposure to end‑to‑end processes across payments, settlement, and trade processing. Eligible students will be graduating Dec 2027–Jun 2028 with a strong customer focus and curiosity.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support day‑to‑day operations and provide insights to aid senior colleagues.

Job description

Purpose of the role

To support the day‑to‑day operations of the operations business division providing insights and expertise that help more senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.

Accountabilities

Performance of KYC tasks while following standard procedures related to Client Due Diligence and AML policies. Monitoring of real time transaction flow, trade updates and exception queues to ensure timely and accurate trade representation across systems. Address incident, problem and change management issues to improve services across the bank. Provision of support to continuous improvement of the operational process and the development of best practices; coming up with ways to improve systems and processes. Provision of support for cleared derivatives, performing daily reconciliation of related fees undertake a range of complex customer and product related processing activities. Participation in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requires in-depth technical knowledge and experience in their assigned area of expertise. Thorough understanding of the underlying principles and concepts within the area of expertise. They lead and supervise a team, guiding and supporting professional development, allocating work requirements and coordinating team resources. Maintain and continually build an understanding of how own sub‑function integrates with function, alongside knowledge of the organisations products, services and processes within the function. Demonstrate understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub‑function. Make evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual information, paying attention to detail. Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents. Guide and persuade team members and communicate complex / sensitive information. Act as contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside team and external to the organisation.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must be graduating between December 2027 and June 2028 and have a GPA of 3.2 or above. Location and Visa

The location for this role is indicated in the job title, and you will be based at that location. If you are successful in receiving a return offer to our graduate program, your location will be the same as it was during your internship. Barclays will not offer or consider offering sponsorship for work visas or offer any employment‑based immigration sponsorship for individuals, now or in the future, unless such individuals are enrolled in or graduate with a degree in a field of study that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Education consider to be a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) field of study for purposes of the 24‑month STEM OPT extension. This includes for any internship, post‑graduation program, or permanent employment, now or in the future.

Salary

Salary / Rate Minimum: $75,000
