Radiant, based in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a highly motivated Thermal Engineer to drive thermal analysis and CFD for Kaleidos systems. The role focuses on documenting results, expanding CFD capabilities, and building geometry pipelines from CAD, with a strong preference for independent problem solving in a fast-growing startup.

The ideal candidate has a relevant engineering degree and is graduating soon, with a keen interest in deploying nuclear microreactors to remote, energy-demanding sites.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
• Graduating in December 2026 or Spring 2027.
• A high level of independence in solving challenging engineering tasks is preferred.
• Ability to seek out resources and proactively ask questions to finish projects through completion effectively, accurately, and timely.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with a proactive and collaborative attitude.
• Genuinely excited for our mission to rapidly deploy nuclear microreactors to remote locations requiring abundant, clean energy.
• Knowledge of reactor physics will provide useful context but is not necessary.
• Prior internship experience helpful but not required.

About Radiant

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to 5 years without refueling. Portable nuclear power with rapid-deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Radiant’s unique, practical approach to nuclear development leverages modern software engineering to rapidly deliver safe, factory-built microreactors that use existing, well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory this summer, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.
