Alexander Hutton is seeking a Summer Analyst in Seattle to join our boutique M&A advisory team. You will work alongside Analysts and Associates on the end-to-end deal process, including pitching, deal marketing, due diligence, and negotiations, while learning from senior leaders who have built and financed middle-market businesses.

Ideal candidates are rising juniors graduating in 2028 with strong finance, accounting, economics backgrounds, and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Qualifications

  • Graduating in 2028 is expected.
  • Academic excellence in finance, accounting, economics, or a related major is required.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to build analyses and client-ready materials.
  • Understanding of the three financial statements and how they connect to financial models and valuations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication to present findings to the deal team and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct industry research using subscription databases.
  • Analyze corporate financial statements and forecasts.
  • Assist in developing deal marketing materials, including teasers and CIMs.
  • Track deal progress and manage firm contacts in an internal CRM.
  • Support the firm’s business development initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings with C-suite executives and investment professionals.

Summer Analyst Program

The AH Summer Analyst Program gives high-achieving students in finance, accounting, and related fields hands-on exposure to middle-market investment banking. Summer Analysts work alongside our Analysts and Associates to see the M&A process end to end, from pitching and deal marketing through negotiation and due diligence, and learn directly from a senior leadership team whose members have owned, operated, and financed middle-market businesses.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conducting industry research using a variety of subscription databases
  • Analyzing corporate financial statements and forecasts
  • Assisting in the development of deal marketing materials, including teasers and confidential information memorandums (CIMs)
  • Tracking deal progress and managing firm contacts in an internal CRM
  • Supporting the firm’s business development initiatives
  • Participating in meetings with C-suite executives and investment professionals
Ideal Candidate Characteristics
  • Expected graduation in 2028
  • Academic excellence in finance, accounting, economics, or a related major
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to build analyses and produce client-ready materials
  • Working understanding of the three financial statements and how they connect to develop financial models and valuation analyses
  • Ability to conduct research and synthesize findings into takeaways that inform deal and business development discussions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to present findings to the deal team and in client materials
  • Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • A positive, entrepreneurial attitude and a strong team-player mentality
  • Curiosity about industries such as manufacturing, business services, healthcare, and technology, among others
