Job summary

Textron Aviation offers a summer internship where you will apply basic data/metrics analysis to create customer value through process improvements, cost reduction, and product enhancements. You will work in a cross-functional, world-class aircraft environment with experienced professionals guiding your growth.

As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to KPI development, SAP Capacity Planning, and cost modeling while developing skills for your future career.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office and CAD tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and relevant metrics to Plant Managers and Director.
  • Identify production flow issues and assist with optimization.
  • Create and deliver KPIs such as Efficiency, DCI, and Overtime.
  • Apply standard hours using models and tools to new parts/assemblies.
  • Analyze facility arrangements for capacity and workflow improvements.
  • Analyze and solve production flow issues related to sequence and balance.
  • Gather and summarize production data for process improvement opportunities.
  • Assist SAP Capacity Planning configurations.
  • Assist in cost development modeling.
  • Value stream mapping and gap analysis.
  • Improve worker efficiency and reduce waste through workflow changes.

JOB SUMMARY

In this position, interns will utilize and develop their basic knowledge of data/metric analysis with a strategic drive to create customer value through process improvements, cost reduction and product improvement. This opportunity enables an individual to grow and innovate while being able to experience a cross‑functional work environment and implement new technologies in building world‑class aircraft.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with providing timely and relevant metrics to Plant Managers and Director
  • Active participation in identifying production flow issues stemming from work sequencing, task/line balancing, tooling/equipment constraints, and manpower allocation/training
  • Assist with creation and automated delivery of KPIs such as Efficiency, DCI & Overtime.
  • Application of standard hours through use of appropriate models, tools and methods to assure time standards are appropriately applied to produce new parts/assemblies
  • Analyze and makes recommendations regarding production facility arrangements for improvements to production capacity, manufacturing flow, new model incorporation, and strategic work transitions
  • Analyze and solve production flow issues stemming from sequence of work, balance of tasks, tooling/equipment constraints, and manpower allocation/training
  • Gather, analyze, and summarizes production process data for their use in valuing and prioritizing process continuous improvement opportunities
  • Assist with work center configuration settings for SAP Capacity Planning
  • Assist in the preparation of cost development model
  • Value stream mapping, network mapping and associated gap analysis
  • Implement methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
EDUCATION

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degreein one of the following:

  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET)
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Robotics Technology
  • Other related fields
EXPERIENCE
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Collaborates and easily gets along in team‑based environments
  • Action‑oriented and ability to shift processes and priorities quickly
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer Proficiency (MS Office, CAD, etc.)
