Job description

Do you want to learn more about sound in the ocean?

Do you enjoy collecting and analyzing data to understand sensor performance characteristics?

If you're pursuing a degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering or Applied Mathematics or a similar major and want to gain experience in underwater acoustic sensors, we'd love to have you join our team!

We are seeking an intern to help us evaluate acoustic or electromagnetic sensors and systems. As a member of our team, you'll contribute to modeling sensor system performance, analyzing experimental data, and comparing measured results to modeled predictions. You will be joining a hardworking team of engineers and scientists who take acoustic and electromagnetic sensor systems from concept to reality in support of U.S. homeland security. Our team is committed to solving new and evolving challenges as we strive to foster a collaborative environment of continuous learning.

As a member of our team...

  • Your primary responsibility will be contributing to acoustic sensor system performance evaluation for undersea projects.
  • You will work with a team to analyze sensor system data.
  • You will share your results with the team, contributing to the development and continual improvement of systems for the U.S. Navy.
Qualifications
  • Are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering or Applied Mathematics or a similar major.
  • Have interest in acoustic or electromagnetic wave propagation.
  • Are proficient in MATLAB or Python.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Note: When prompted to upload attachments, please include a copy of your college transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
You’ll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
  • Have previous internship or project experience in solving problems in acoustic or electromagnetic domains.
  • Have knowledge of analog circuits or signal processing.
