SimVentions, Inc. in Fredericksburg, VA offers an 11-week paid Information Technology Intern program. You will join a team that builds and operates technology systems, working with IT operations, system and network administration, cloud technologies, and infrastructure automation.

Under mentorship, you will gain hands-on experience in DevSecOps environments, strengthen troubleshooting, and learn to document processes while contributing to real projects and company events.

Qualifications

• Completed Freshman year of college; rising sophomore, junior or senior.
• Enrolled in a degree such as systems engineering, software engineering, cybersecurity, computer science, or related field.
• Strong interest in technology, innovation and problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive, eager-to-learn attitude with commitment to growth.
• Previous experience or coursework in systems engineering, software development or cybersecurity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with experienced professionals to build foundational skills in IT operations, system and network administration, cloud technologies, infrastructure automation, configuration management, and technical support.
• Participate in hands-on development, testing, and troubleshooting tasks within your assigned team.
• Assist with the creation, implementation and validation of engineering models, simulations, or software applications.
• Contribute to the documentation of technical processes and findings.
• Participate in team meetings, provide updates, and receive mentorship from senior IT leaders.
• Learn and apply cutting-edge technologies and best practices.
• Conduct research and assist with the development of solutions to current technical challenges.
• Engage in learning and networking activities, such as training sessions and company events.

Join our team as anInformation Technology Intern:

Support the build and operation of technology systems with the tools, technologies, and processes used to support reliable and efficient technical environments. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals to build foundational skills in areas such as IT operations, system and network administration, cloud technologies, infrastructure automation, configuration management, and technical support. Through mentorship and practical assignments, participants will strengthen their troubleshooting and problem-solving skills while gaining exposure to real-world IT and DevSecOps environments.

Each year SimVentions invites a select number of students to join us for our immersive 11-week paid internship program where you will experience our outstanding company culture while gaining valuable experience that you can implement into your post graduate professional career.

Eligibility

SimVentions offers internship opportunities across a variety of technical disciplines, including systems engineering, software engineering, modeling & simulation, and cybersecurity engineering. Priority consideration will be given to returning interns and students pursuing degrees that align with our core technical areas. Students pursuing degrees in other fields may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Deadlines:All resumes with attached cover letters must be received no later than December 31, 2026. Any resumes received after this time will not be considered.Notification:All candidates will be notified of their selection status no later than March 2027.

Clearance

A Clearance is not required for our internship program but all candidates must be eligible to obtain a clearance.

Requirements

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/Hour (USD).
