Job summary

Merck's Future Talent Program invites interns for up to 12 weeks to work on projects within Global Safety and Environment (GSE) across the Americas. The internship offers hands-on experience in environmental health and safety (EHS) initiatives, training implementation, and governance.

You will support the GSE team, help improve incident investigations, and contribute to efficient operations while developing practical skills for a career in EHS.

Qualifications

The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Global Support Function Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support the Global Safety and Environment (GSE) team across multiple sites in the Americas. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in environmental health and safety (EHS) training implementation, documentation governance, and incident investigation improvements. The intern will play a key role in enhancing operational efficiency and supporting critical projects within the GSE organization.

Required Education And Skills

• Currently pursuing a Bachelors/ Master’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biology or another technical program.
• Completed at least 2 years of college course work
• Able to work full time for a period of 10-12 weeks
• Critical thinking, communication, problem-solving and computer skills
• Ability to receive verbal or written direction and implement corresponding changes
• Ability to think critically about process inefficiencies and propose solutions

Preferred Skills

• Prior internship or work experience in the Environmental, Health, and Safety field or in chemical manufacturing.
• Ability to convey ideas and explain decisions in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to work in a small team
