Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ, is offering a 10–12 week Future Talent Program internship in the Global Safety & Environment ECSS Team. You will support environmental compliance and sustainability projects across company facilities worldwide.

Ideal candidates are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in safety or a technical field, have completed at least two years of college, and can work full time. Strong critical thinking and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field such as safety, environmental science, engineering, biotechnology, chemistry or biology.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with environmental compliance program implementation and improvements.
  • Support environmental activities at company sites, including sustainability projects.
  • Assist with calculations related to environmental compliance program implementation and support.
  • Review new or revised environmental regulations and assess impact to company sites.
  • Support development of tools for environmental program improvement.
  • Support remediation and site decommissioning projects.

The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects.These opportunities in our Global Support Functions Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

Global Safety & Environment Intern - Environmental Compliance, Sustainability & Stewardship (ECSS) Team

– will provide support to Company facilities globally related to environmental compliance and sustainability programs (air, water, waste, remediation, sustainability). Projects may include:

  • Assisting with environmental compliance program implementation and improvements.
  • Supporting environmental activities at Company sites, including sustainability projects.
  • Assisting with calculations associated with environmental compliance program implementation and support.
  • Reviewing new or revised environmental regulations and assessing impact to company sites.
  • Supporting the development of innovative tools for environmental program improvement.
  • Supporting remediation and/or site decommissioning projects.
Education

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s/ master’s degree in safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biology or another technical program. Completed at least 2 years of college course work. Able to work full time for a period of 10-12 weeks. Critical thinking, communication, problem-solving and computer skills. Ability to receive verbal or written direction and implement corresponding activities. Ability to think critically about process inefficiencies and propose solutions.

Preferred Skills
  • Prior internship or work experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety field or in pharmaceutical manufacturing/R&D.
  • Ability to convey ideas and explain decisions in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently or in a small team.
Salary range

The salary range for this role is $39,908 - $111,111 USD FTP2027 GSF2027
