Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking interns in Mechanical Engineer and Electrical Engineer to join the Space Systems Sector in Wallop, VA. Interns will perform varied duties from engineering drawings, troubleshooting, testing and calibration, gaining hands-on experience on space systems projects.

Eligible candidates are full-time STEM students, with a minimum GPA and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an undergraduate or graduate STEM degree.
• Available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.

Northrop Grumman is seeking Interns in Mechanical Engineer and Electrical Engineer to join the Space Systems Sector. This position will be located in Wallop, VA.

Roles And Responsibilities

Performs a variety of duties in the Electrical and Mechanical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment, components, devices, circuits or systems. Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.

Basic Qualifications

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

• Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027.
• Be majoring in in a STEM Degree or related.
• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
• Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Preferred Qualifications

• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher

Intern Pay Range

Bachelor’s: $24.25 to $29.50 per hour

Master’s: $34.50 to $36.25 per hour

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.

Primary Level Salary Range: $1.00 - $1.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
