Job summary

Trane Technologies invites energetic engineering students to join a 12-week Summer internship focused on Energy Engineering. Participants will gain hands-on experience in energy analysis, field energy audits, and project management while collaborating with Account Managers and Energy Engineers.

The program develops technical, business, leadership, and communication skills and offers exposure to energy conservation projects across commercial facilities in North America.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Engineering.
  • Must have completed at least their sophomore year before start.
  • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Managers and Energy Engineers to diagnose energy opportunities at customer facilities and propose small energy projects.
  • Provide technical analysis and review for energy projects; assess project risk.
  • Shadow and perform building walkthroughs, identify energy conservation measures in various facilities.
  • Collaborate on developing existing reporting capabilities from a software/useability perspective and explore new technologies.
  • Prescribe measurement and verification methods for system performance during the acquisition phase.
  • Analyze data outputs for trends and investigate any deviations.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in building efficiency and sustainability through our Equipment, Service or Controls / Building Automation offerings. Trane Technologies, the global leader in innovative climate solutions, hands on summer internship allows participants to explore a career in Energy Engineering through the following: A 12-week Summer internship program that will challenge and develop your technical, business, leadership, and communication skills. Gain insight into an Energy Engineering Career with Trane Technologies, focusing on solutions that provide our customers with the most energy-efficient buildings. Work on a variety of engineering aspects, including energy analysis projects, completion of field energy audits, client interviews, completion of estimates, and development of energy conversation measures, and project management. This internship will provide you with the experience to pursue a career in Energy Engineering and creates the opportunity to join our industry leading Graduate Training Program (GTP) after graduation.

What you will do
  • Partnering with Account Managers and Energy Engineers to diagnose energy opportunities with customer’s facilities and provide small energy projects that solve customer issues/opportunities.
  • Providing technical analysis/review for energy projects; providing project risk assessment.
  • Shadowing and performing building "walk-throughs" and identifying energy conservation measures (architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) in commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.
  • Collaborating on the development of existing reporting capabilities from a software standpoint and a usability perspective and investigate new technologies.
  • Prescribing best methods for measurement and verification of system performance during the acquisition phase.
  • Analyzing data outputs for trends and/or any deviations that need further investigating.
  • Assisting with opportunity technical qualification including Preliminary Audits, Benchmarking, Site Surveys, and Interviews.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and developing benchmark summary reports to illustrate the pertinent details of building and/or system performance.
What you will bring
  • Actively enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, (preferred disciplines: Energy, Mechanical or Electrical) throughout the entire duration of the summer internship.
  • Candidates must have completed at least their sophomore or 2nd year before the start of the summer internship to be eligible for internship positions.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • This posting is for multiple opportunities. Some positions may be remote while others may require a hybrid or onsite assignment at one of our facilities across North America.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, ability to provide proof of insurance, and have no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI in the previous 3 years Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
  • This role has been designated by the Company as Safety Sensitive.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: $22.50 - $31.00 Compensation Type: Hourly Incentive Eligible: No Sales Commission Eligible: No Disclaimer: We strive to provide competitive compensation for this position, tailored to a variety of factors.
