Job summary

Trane Technologies invites energetic engineering students to join our summer internship program. You will partner with energy engineers to diagnose opportunities, perform technical analyses, and conduct building assessments across North America.

Eligible students must be enrolled in an engineering degree and have completed at least sophomore year. Some roles may be remote while others are on-site, with a comprehensive benefits package and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering (preferred: Energy, Mechanical or Electrical).
  • Must have completed at least sophomore year before start of internship.
  • U.S. citizen or right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Managers and Energy Engineers to diagnose energy opportunities and provide small energy projects.
  • Provide technical analysis/review for energy projects and assess risk.
  • Shadow building walkthroughs to identify energy conservation measures in commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.
  • Collaborate on developing reporting capabilities and explore new technologies.
  • Measure and verify system performance during acquisition phases.
  • Analyze data outputs for trends and investigate deviations.
  • Assist with Preliminary Audits, Benchmarking, Site Surveys, and Interviews.
  • Collect and develop benchmark reports on building and system performance.

Where is the work: On-Site (5 days)

What you will do:
  • Partnering with Account Managers and Energy Engineers to diagnose energy opportunities with customer's facilities and provide small energy projects that solve customer issues/opportunities.
  • Providing technical analysis/review for energy projects; providing project risk assessment.
  • Shadowing and performing building “walk-throughs” and identifying energy conservation measures (architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) in commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.
  • Collaborating on the development of existing reporting capabilities from a software standpoint and a usability perspective and investigate new technologies.
  • Prescribing best methods for measurement and verification of system performance during the acquisition phase.
  • Analyzing data outputs for trends and/or any deviations that need further investigating.
  • Assisting with opportunity technical qualification including Preliminary Audits, Benchmarking, Site Surveys, and Interviews.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and developing benchmark summary reports to illustrate the pertinent details of building and/or system performance.
What you will bring:
  • Actively enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, (preferred disciplines: Energy, Mechanical or Electrical) throughout the entire duration of the summer internship.
  • Candidates must have completed at least their sophomore or 2nd year before the start of the summer internship to be eligible for internship positions.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • This posting is for multiple opportunities. Some positions may be remote while others may require a hybrid or onsite assignment at one of our facilities across North America.
  • Possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, ability to provide proof of insurance, and have no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI in the previous 3 years Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
  • This role has been designated by the Company as Safety Sensitive.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: $22.50 - $31.00 Compensation Type: Hourly Incentive Eligible: No Sales Commission Eligible: No Disclaimer: We strive to provide competitive compensation for this position, tailored to a variety of factors.
