Textron Specialized Vehicles invites applications for the 2027 Electrical Engineer Intern position. The role offers hands-on experience on real projects alongside seasoned engineers, developing skills in design, validation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications include pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; CAD, MATLAB, and programming experience (Visual Basic or similar) are preferred. Competitive stipend during a 10-week summer internship.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CAD and Matlab is preferred.
  • Experience with Visual Basic or other programming languages is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and developing mechanical or electrical systems, including vehicle frame, lighting, wiring, and PCB design.
  • Work within defined project timelines to meet the schedule.
  • Create and revise functional specifications and engineering design standards.
  • Develop test and analysis plans for product validation.
  • Perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies.
  • Produce engineering drawings and bills of material.
  • Incorporate GD&T on drawings.
  • Document design issues found during testing.
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews and DFA/DFM assessments.
  • Perform FEA on components and assemblies for stress and thermal analysis.

Responsibilities:
  • Completion of assigned tasks to assist in the design and development of various mechanical or electrical systems, such as: vehicle frame, steering, suspension, axles, drivelines, seating, roll cages, body panels, lighting, electrical harness and electrical system design, circuit board design, and microprocessor programming.
  • Work within defined project timelines to complete tasks according to project schedule.
  • Revise, review, and create functional specifications and engineering design standards.
  • Creating test and analysis plans for product validation.
  • Perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies.
  • Development and release of engineering component, assembly drawings, and vehicle bills of material.
  • Incorporate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering drawings.
  • Resolve and document design issues found during testing.
  • Participate in cross functional design reviews and Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for manufacturing (DFM) Assessments on Components & Assemblies.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on Components & Assemblies for stress, thermal etc.
