Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies (HII-MT) is seeking a cybersecurity engineering intern with a solid technical foundation in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or embedded systems. This role involves hands‑on support of cyber test and evaluation, with opportunities to work alongside engineers and analysts engaged in reverse engineering, software/firmware analysis, and prototype development.

As a Cybersecurity Engineering Intern, you will assist with the reverse engineering of software, firmware, and hardware systems under the guidance of senior engineers, while supporting cyber testing and experimentation on both operational and prototype platforms in a lab environment. You’ll contribute to the identification and reporting of cyber risks and vulnerabilities in embedded, networked, and RF‑connected systems. In addition, you will have opportunities to develop automation tools and analysis scripts (e.g., Python, Bash), participate in technical discussions, document findings, and work collaboratively with engineers and mentors to advance the team’s mission.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Working towards degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • Strong interest in cybersecurity, software analysis, and/or embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with basic programming (e.g., Python, C, or C++) and command-line interfaces (Linux/Unix).
