Job summary

Associated Bank in Wisconsin is offering a 12-week internship in the Fraud Prevention area. You will gain hands-on experience supporting the Financial Intelligence Department by identifying and mitigating financial crime risks and reviewing fraud alerts under supervision.

Interns will collaborate with Fraud Analysts, participate in training and development activities, and learn investigative and analytical skills using fraud detection and risk mitigation processes.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as an Associate's Degree student (sophomore to senior) at internship start date.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree student with sophomore, junior, or senior standing at start date.
  • Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills are desired.

  • Participate in structured internship programming including orientation and workshops.
  • Support the Financial Intelligence Department by helping identify financial crime risks.
  • Review fraud alerts and investigate check fraud and other activity.
  • Contact customers when appropriate and assist with account restrictions and workflows.
  • Support daily fraud monitoring activities and contribute to projects and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Fraud Analysts and team members in supportive, cross-functional work.

Key Accountabilities
  • Participate in structured corporate internship programming, including orientation, workshops, networking events, research projects, and professional development activities.
  • Support the Financial Intelligence Department by helping identify, investigate, and mitigate financial crime risks impacting the bank.
  • Review fraud alerts and investigate check fraud, new account fraud, and other financial crime activity.
  • Contact customers when appropriate and assist with account restrictions, resolutions, and fraud-related workflows.
  • Support daily fraud monitoring activities and contribute to special projects, process improvement initiatives, and department support tasks.
  • Collaborate with Fraud Analysts, Fraud Leads, and team members while participating in team communications, schedules, and operational workflows.
  • Develop investigative and analytical skills through hands‑on experience using fraud detection, research, and risk mitigation processes.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines, and complete additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Required

  • Associate's Degree student with sophomore, junior, or senior standing at the time of internship start date; must not have graduated prior to internship start date.
