Job summary

Textron Systems in Hunt Valley, MD is seeking a Software Engineer Co-Op for the summer. You will join our interdisciplinary team working on Uncrewed Land & Air Systems research and development, contributing to design, implementation, and testing of software for military vehicle systems.

As a co-op, you’ll gain hands-on experience across the software lifecycle, collaborate with engineers, and have mentorship, ERG participation, and opportunities to apply to full-time roles after graduation.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s in CS/CE/CIS/MIS or related field.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration preferred but not required.
  • Experience with TCP/UDP/CAN/Serial protocols preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Mercurial, Git, Jira preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows development environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Tasks across the full software development life cycle including design, development, build, integration, test, and delivery.
  • Working within a medium-sized software development team on tasks related to military vehicle system development

About This Role

A Day in the Life of a Software Engineer Co-Op: The Uncrewed Land & Air Systems, Hunt Valley team are seeking Software Engineering co-ops to join our organization for the summer! We want engineers who have the passion to apply a diverse set of technologies and skills to create indispensable solutions. Work is conducted on research and development initiatives that enable our land products and programs. Our interns are integral members of our inter-disciplinary engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Tasks related to the full software development life cycle including design, development, build, integration, test, and delivery.
  • Working within a medium-sized software development team on tasks related to military vehicle system development
Qualifications
What You’ll Need
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science/computer engineering/CIS/MISor a related field
  • Experience with hardware and software integration is preferred but not required
  • Experience with standard communications protocols (TCP, UDP, CAN, Serial) preferred but not required
  • Experience with software management tools such as Mercurial, Git, Jira preferred but not required
  • Experience with Linux and Windows development environments preferred
  • Ability to work 40 hours/week (This schedule is on a combination 5/8, 4/10, with every other Friday off!)
  • This position requires an individual to be a U.S citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
