Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a CAD Technician Intern to support engineers, designers, and project managers on transportation and infrastructure projects in the Harlingen, TX area.

You will gain hands-on drafting experience with CAD software, contribute to roadway, railway, drainage, utility, and site design efforts, and develop practical skills in a professional setting with mentorship from senior staff.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a related drafting or CAD program.
• Basic knowledge of Autodesk and/or Bentley CAD software.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers and design staff with the preparation and modification of technical drawings and design deliverables.
• Create, update, and maintain CAD files, exhibits, plan sheets, and 3D models.
• Support the development of roadway, railway, drainage, utility, and site design plans.
• Utilize CAD software to produce accurate, organized, and high-quality project deliverables.
• Perform drafting assignments using sketches, markups, design calculations, and engineering standards.
• Assist with document organization, plan production, and quality control reviews.
• Coordinate with project team members to ensure assignments are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Learn and apply company drafting standards, CAD procedures, and industry best practices.
• Participate in project and team meetings to gain exposure to engineering design processes and project development activities.

As a CAD Technician Intern, you will support engineers, designers, and project managers on a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects. This position provides exposure to roadway, railway, site development, utility, and drainage projects while helping you build practical skills using industry-leading design technology. This internship is ideal for students pursuing an associate degree in Drafting & Design Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, or a related technical field who are interested in developing a career within the civil engineering industry.

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in Drafting & Design Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, or related technical program.
• Basic knowledge of Autodesk and/or Bentley CAD software.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and interpret technical information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in pursuing a career within the civil engineering industry.
• Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Exposure to survey, roadway, railway, drainage, utility, or site design concepts through coursework or projects.
• Previous internship, academic project, or drafting experience.

Compensation

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $18.00 - $19.00 per hour.
