Job summary

Parker Hannifin is seeking an Automation intern to help determine and develop production processes for manufacturing operations. You will interact with product engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams while supporting design, prototyping, and testing of small machines.

Opportunities are available January 2027 - August 2027 and May 2027 - December 2027, with a focus on hands-on problem solving, 3D printing, and rapid prototyping in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a 4-year engineering or related degree.
• Coursework in manufacturing processes, machining, metrology, statistics, or quality engineering.
• Experience with 2D CAD and mechanical simulations.
• Familiarity with safety standards and protocols.
• Basic programming knowledge in Python or C#.

Job Description

The Automation intern will be responsible for determining and developing production processes for manufacturing operations consistent with team objectives. This individual will interact with product engineering, manufacturing, and quality functions.

There are opportunities for January 2027 - August 2027 and May 2027 - December 2027.

• proficient in 3D modeling of mechanical components and systems using Autodesk Inventor
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose robotic system issues
• Basic ability to understand programming and modifying automation systems
• Assist in design, prototyping, and testing of small machines
• Collaborate on technical documentation and reporting for engineering projects
• Participate in projects related to machine design, prototyping, and creating work orders with Bill of Materials and other relevant annotations
• Classified as actively enrolled in a 4-year Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related degree
• Coursework or experience in manufacturing processes, machining, metrology, statistics, or quality engineering.
• Experience with 2D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar), engineering principles, and mechanical simulations.
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards and protocols
• Basic programming knowledge in Python or C#
• Understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics in mechanical systems
• Ability to assist with rapid prototyping and 3D printing
• Strong problem-solving skills with hands‑on approach to mechanical issues
• Prior internship or hands‑on manufacturing/shop experience.
• Data & statistics: Excel, Minitab, JMP, Python (pandas)
• ERP/MRP: SAP, Oracle, NetSuite (if applicable)
• Quality/Process: SPC, FMEA, CAPA, 8D
