Job summary

Textron Systems seeks an entry-level Associate Buyer in Hunt Valley, MD to support procurement across materials and suppliers. You’ll gain hands-on exposure, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration from day one.

Responsibilities include sourcing materials cost-effectively, analyzing quotations, expediting orders, and maintaining compliant records. A bachelor’s in supply chain or related field and strong Excel skills are preferred; weld/machining knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field.
• Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities.
• Effective verbal and written communications skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office applications with emphasis in MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Purchase materials from suppliers at the lowest cost while considering quality and reliability.
• Study market trends, interview vendors and recommend sources of supply.
• Solicit and analyze quotations to satisfy requirements.
• Monitor outstanding orders to ensure timely deliveries and expedite as needed.
• Negotiate adjustments from price analysis, discrepancies, surplus or obsolescence, or PO cancellations.
• Obtain delivery certifications and validate item delivery; check/ improve invoice payments.
• Develop and maintain records for compliance; support proposal cost data.
• Preferred candidate will be knowledgeable in weld process, mechanical and custom fabrication.

About This Role

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Purchase materials from supplies at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need
• Study market trends, interview vendors and recommends sources of supply
• Solicit and analyze quotations required to satisfy all the requirements of the authorizing source documentation
• Monitor outstanding orders to ensure timely deliveries of quality products to maintain production, following up on orders to expedite shipment and delivery as needed
• Negotiate for any adjustments resulting from price analysis, discrepant materials, surplus or obsolete materials, contract terminations or a purchase order cancellation
• Obtain certifications of delivery and conduct item delivery validation. Check and improve payment of invoices
• Develop and maintain necessary records and files for compliance purposes. Support preparation of proposal cost data
• Preferred candidate will be knowledgeable in weld process, mechanical and custom fab.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field.
• Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities efficiently
• Effective verbal and written communications skills
• Basic Microsoft Office application skills with emphasis in MS Excel

Textron’s compensation package includes competitive base pay and provides eligible employees with benefit programs. In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is

$75,000 - $75,000 per year.
