AbbVie’s Accounting & Finance Development Program (AFDP) offers rotational experiences to prepare you for accounting and financial management roles. The program provides exposure to Commercial, Operations, Research & Development, and Corporate finance areas, with rotations across multiple U.S.

sites, including Lake County, IL. You will work cross-functionally and engage in key training sessions to build leadership and technical skills.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed a bachelor’s degree in finance and/or accounting, with an expected graduation date between December 2026–August 2027.
  • Successful completion of at least three accounting courses (each with 3 credit hours) by graduation, with one course focused on cost or managerial accounting.
  • Proven capability to effectively communicate within work and/or academic environments, adapting messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated utilization of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in academic and professional settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a school or student organization setting.

Responsibilities

  • Completing separate professional work assignments within finance areas (e.g., Financial Analysis).
  • Handling Budgets and Forecasting; Reporting & Controls.
  • Involvement in Manufacturing Operations Accounting and related functions.
  • Willingness to relocate outside Lake County IL for rotations; placement in U.S. AbbVie locations.

AbbVieAFDProtations are structured withinfourfunctionalareasof the business:

  • Commercial:Commercial Finance providesgloballeadership, guidance, and financial support to AbbVie’s Commercial operations, including the Allergan Aesthetics business.This organizationforecastsforour key brands inImmunology,Oncology,orNeuroscience and Eye Care.CommercialInternational Therapeutics helps to supportour globaloperations and planningworldwide.

  • Operations:OperationsFinance provides leadership and guidance to Manufacturing, Supply Chain,Purchasingand various other support functions related to financial planning and internal management reporting. The Finance team provides decision support services through analysis of key financial information, while driving operating margin improvement, maximizing tax advantaged product sourcing, andmaintainingan assurance of supply.

  • Research & Development:Supports AbbVie’s Research & Development (R&D) activities with primary focus on pipeline compounds in development, beginning from target and molecule discovery to human clinical study conduct to filing for regulatory approvals in markets around the world, and support of on-market products for new indications and regulatory commitments. R&D Finance isgenerally alignedaround the stages of compound development and its related operating functions.

  • Corporate:

    • Accounting:The Accounting COE governs AbbVie’s global accounting function,establishingand monitoring global policy, procedures, and controls for One AbbVie.

    • Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A):FP&A drives business performance by serving as trusted advisors and partners who influence strategy, enable operation excellence, andmaintaina strongcontrolsenvironment.

    • Finance Shared Services:Finance Shared Services governs and supports AbbVie’s global, standardized, end-to-end, back-office processes,maintainingthe operations and transactional business activities that enable the company to run.

    • Internal Audit:Internal Auditprotects and enhances organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight.

    • Investor Relations:The Investor Relations (IR) functionis responsible fordeveloping, implementing, and managing a comprehensive, strategic, and proactive investor relations program that optimizes the value of AbbVie’s stock. IR serves as a primarypoint of interfaceto introduce, position, and market the company to equity analysts and large institutional investors. IRdisseminateskey company informationregardingAbbVie’s corporate strategy, financial performance, and product/pipeline performance toassistinvestors in making informed investment decisions. The IR team works closely withnumerousfunctions within the company, including the Executive Leadership Team, Finance, Commercial, Legal, R&D, Public Affairs, Business Development, Government Affairs, etc.

    • Tax and Global Trade Compliance (GTC):Tax is a trusted business partner that enables our businessby fulfillingtax legal obligations and through collaboration with key finance and operational functions. By managing the domestic and international tax profile, Tax delivers value to the company and shareholders.

    • Treasury:Treasury provides centralized and efficient global business support in the areas of banking, foreign exchange, financial risk management,investmentsand capital structure that ensures adequate liquidity for the company and its subsidiaries.In addition to the HQ location in Lake County, Treasury has regional centers in Singapore, the Netherlands, and Colombia.

In addition to gainingthe above functional experience, youwill alsoworkcross functionally in a matrix environment, building your business acumen, andparticipatingin key training sessions.

Duringyourtimeas anAFDPmember,youcan expect to complete separate professional work assignments withinfinance areas,such as:

  • Financial Analysis

  • Reporting & Controls

  • Manufacturing Operations Accounting

MostAFDPmemberswill be placedwithin one of AbbVie’s officesinLake County, IL for their first rotation, with the possibility ofan initialplacement or rotation inany U.S. AbbVielocation. Global placements are also possible.Placements will bebased onbusinessneeds and our ability to accommodateindividuals'preferences,when possible.

Qualifications
MinimumQualifications:
  • Must have completed a bachelor’s degree in finance and/or accounting, with an expected graduation date betweenDecember 2026–August2027.

  • Successful completion of at least three accounting courses (each with 3 credit hours) by the time of graduation, with one of the coursesbeing focusedon cost or managerial accounting.

  • Proven capability to effectively communicate within work and/or academic environments, adapting messaging to suit diverse audiences.

  • Demonstratedutilizationof Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in both academic and professional settings.

  • Demonstratedleadership experience within a school or student organization setting.

  • Willingness torelocateoutside of Lake County IL for 1 to 2 six-month rotation(s).

  • Mustsubmitunofficialor official transcript attimeof application.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Dualmajor or minor in a related field is a plus.

  • Experience ineffectivelyutilizingsystems and tools to visualize and present data in a meaningful way.

  • Exposure orproficiencyin handling data analysis and ability to perform robust analytics and predictive modeling with ease.

  • Completion of an accredited Excel or data visualization tool certificate program or course.

  • Capability to blend technical and business knowledge and supplement it with analyticalexpertiseand innovative problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstratedability to effectively manage projects within a work and/or academic environment, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

  • Proventrack recordof working collaboratively in teams, being adaptable, innovative, proactive, and maintaining high ethical standards.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
