Job summary

The Augusta National Fellowship Program invites a senior or recent graduate to join a 10-month paid post‑graduate experience onsite in Augusta, Georgia. The Communications Fellow will support the club's communications strategy across multiple functions and contribute to Masters Tournament activities with confidentiality and discretion.

Responsibilities include editing and drafting content, assisting with press operations, monitoring media, and supporting marketing and internal communications.

Qualifications

  • Detail‑oriented with strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Experience in sports information, media relations, or journalism preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Provides editorial support, including proofreading, editing, fact‑checking and drafting of publications, media materials and other content.
  • Interfaces and works directly with the Communications Manager to help with Tournament preparations and the setup of the Press Building; Assists in all press operations surrounding the Masters Tournament
  • Provides relevant communications support to Masters Tournament Foundation events, including women’s amateur, Drive, Chip and Putt, Asia‑ Pacific Amateur Championship and Latin America Amateur Championship
  • Assists with internal communications initiatives, including writing, asset creation and strategic support and publishing to employee intranet
  • Assists in monitoring news and social media for all information relating to Augusta National, the Masters Tournament and other relevant topics
  • Provide assistance to the Marketing department on internal and external materials
  • Assists in research to answer requests for information from internal and external sources
  • Provide assistance to the Club Historian on assigned projects
  • Attends department meetings, creates meeting reports and tracks action items from those meetings
  • Completes projects as assigned by the Communications department
  • Accompany members of the media, broadcast team and other guests approved to visit specific locations on the property
  • Performs other duties that are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job

Job description

This role is part of the Augusta National Fellowship Program, a 10-month, paid post‑graduate program based onsite in Augusta, Georgia. The program provides Fellows with hands‑on professional experience and meaningful opportunities to contribute within their respective areas while gaining exposure to Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament. Housing assistance is available for this Fellowship.

The Communications Fellow reports to the Communications Manager and will provide support of Augusta National Golf Club’s communications strategy across a variety of functions. This position requires the highest attention to detail and is expected to support the planning and execution of press activities for the Masters Tournament and Masters Tournament Foundation ("MTF") events and initiatives. This position requires re‑location to Augusta, Ga., during the months of October through May. Like all positions at Augusta National, this fellow must maintain the strict confidentiality of all Club business.

Essential Functions of the Job
  • Provides editorial support, including proofreading, editing, fact‑checking and drafting of publications, media materials and other content

Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accompany members of the media, broadcast team and other guests approved to visit specific locations on the property
  • Performs other duties that are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job
Qualifications (required unless stated otherwise):
  • Demonstrates attention to detail in every aspect of the fellowship
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Power Point); Adobe Creative Suite experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and high workloads
  • Efficient organizational skills
  • Thorough knowledge of golf, Augusta National and/or the Masters Tournament preferred
Experience/Education:
  • Currently enrolled as a senior or a recent graduate of an accredited college or university, preferably with a degree or expected degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Business/Sports Administration
  • Experience in sports information/administration, media relations, communications or journalism is preferred
Required License(s):
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully completes the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program
