Job description

2026 Seafood Processor- Red Salmon Cannery (PRCSSR - RSC)

Processors must be versatile and willing to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, gutting, cleaning, packing and icing of seafood; operating various types of machinery; and general cleaning of work areas. Working conditions vary depending upon tasks assigned, which could include noisy areas where machines are operating, wet areas where seafood is cleaned, and cold areas such as walk-in freezers. Much of the work is repetitive due to mechanization and large volumes of product processed. In short, the nature of the work is not glamorous.

We are looking for hardworking employees who have the mindset to not quit and know how to push through those hard days because they know the return of a LARGE PAYCHECK is worth it!.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean, fillet, grade, and package seafood products.
  • Carefully remove shells, bones, and any unwanted parts from the seafood products.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of seafood products for freshness, quality, and adherence to specifications.
  • Skillfully operate and maintain processing equipment and tools, following proper procedures.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations, ensuring that our products are prepared in a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to ensure a smooth production flow
  • Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for everyone.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times, contributing to a productive and efficient workspace.
Work

RSC runs a 24-hour processing facility.

Lots of fish = lots of work
No fish = no work.

It is key to understand that your hours are all dependent on the fish. There may be several days or weeks of full production, and there may be several days with little or no production.

Wages and Benefits

Pay starts at $17.91/regular hour; $26.87/overtime hour – Payroll is processed Bi-Weekly

In Alaska, employees are paid overtime after eight regular hours in a day, and after 40 regular hours in a week.

NPSI provides transportation from the nearest major airport to the work location and back if you complete the season.

Housing and Meals provided at no cost- Housing at RSC is very similar to dorm style living, with shared rooms with communal bathrooms and showers. We also provide 3 meals a day and snacks during each break.

Laundry is done for employees once a week.

With no onsite expenses, this is often a great way to make money in a relatively short period of time. There are additional opportunities for pay such as referral bonuses.

We offer opportunities to grow: Both professionally and personally! We offer the possibility to move up within our company.

NPSI offers a generous employer matching 401(k) retirement plan, and you are eligible to participate on day one! We also offer affordable, traditional health insurance benefits that include medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage.

Qualified applicants must be:
  • 18+ years old.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Willing and able to do this work, with or without reasonable accommodation:
    • Perform physical, standing work for up to 16 hours per day, seven days per week.
    • Possess visual acuity and tactile dexterity to perform processing tasks.
    • Process, touch, and be in close proximity of seafood products.
    • Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance.
    • Work in cold, wet, loud plants with strong seafood odors.
    • Live and work in remote areas with limited access to medical attention.
    • Work safely around moving machinery, forklifts, vehicles, and elevated walkways.
    • Follow verbal and/or written directions.
