The Effector Sub‑System Products (ESP) department is responsible for all aspects of these subsystems’ design, test and production. ESP is seeking recent college graduates to join our Power Electronics Controls (PEC) team with the skills and passion to engineer complex power systems, analog design, linear control systems and/or motor control systems. A successful candidate is one who can participate in a multi‑disciplined team, properly apply engineering tools and processes, and effectively communicate with others.

This position requires frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, concepts, and techniques. Successful candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast‑paced, team‑based, and challenging technical environment where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive. The role is an onsite position and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

What You Will Do:
  • Design, analyze (including thermal considerations), simulate, and test power conversion circuitry, potentially utilizing any standard non‑isolated power conversion topologies (buck, boost, buck‑boost) including modules and discrete designs.
  • Guide Electronic Computer‑Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation.
  • Perform design work within the bounds of a given schedule.
  • Present reviews of technical data to program leadership and technical staff.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) major.
  • Experience in low‑level electronics components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes and/or transistors, and the ability to design with them.
  • Experience with any of the following non‑isolated converter topologies: buck, boost, buck‑boost.
  • Experience with design, analysis, and test of analog electronic design and analysis, including FET, BJT, and/or Op‑amp circuits.
  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum entering their sophomore year by the start of summer 2026.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Lab experience specific to power electronics and/or controls electronics.
  • Demonstrated use of software tools for electrical circuit simulation and/or printed circuit board layout.
  • Understanding of fundamental power conversion concepts, components, and techniques.
  • Basic understanding of commonly used power converter and/or motor drive control schemes.
  • Familiarity with circuit simulators such as SIMPLIS, Saber and/or Mathcad.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD – 82,000 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education and training, and key skills.
