Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools is seeking an Elementary School Teacher for Grade 1 to join our district. The position focuses on afternoon instruction and requires Minnesota K-6 or 1-6 Elementary Education licensure.

You will develop lesson plans, deliver inclusive instruction, and monitor student progress with collaboration from a supportive team. The role emphasizes adapting curriculum, maintaining classroom standards, and engaging families through multiple channels.

Assignment Details

This position will work Monday afternoons and Friday afternoons.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the District approved curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
2. Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
3. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
4. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records in a timely fashion, and prepare progress reports.
5. Identify pupil needs, make appropriate referrals, and develop strategies for individual education plans.
6. Communicate regularly with parents outside the normal classroom day via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, e-mails, conferences, etc.
7. Work in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors.
8. Maintain and improve professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars to stay current with best teaching practices.
9. Participate in a professional learning community on a regular basis.
10. Integrate technology into instruction.
11. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
