Job Description

State law requires a national and state criminal history background check and a clearance letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services indicating no findings of child abuse or neglect.

Scope of Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, and delivers the program of instruction based on an approved curriculum; monitors, evaluates, and communicates student progress; maintains records and makes reports; enforces Board policies, regulations, and rules; supervises students; and secures and maintains school property and materials.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
  • Creates and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guides learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and establishes objectives for lessons, units, projects, and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives, prepares for classes, and maintains written evidence of preparation.
  • Assists administration in implementing Board policies, regulations, and rules governing student life; develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure; maintains order fairly, justly, and consistently.
  • Assesses students' accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports and counseling to parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
  • Provides availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required; attends conferences and collaborates with homeroom teachers as necessary.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Continues personal and professional growth and upgrades skills appropriate to teaching assignments.
  • Attends staff meetings, serves on staff committees, and shares responsibility for extracurricular activities as designated by the supervisor.
  • May perform health services duties for which training will be provided.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Demands

Standing or walking; speaking, vision, hearing; hand use for simple grasping; bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching; ability to lift, carry, push or pull lightweights.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Kentucky certification appropriate to the grade level and curricular assignment.
  • Experience and preparation required by the Board.
