Job description

Position: Health Services Technician – Irish Bilingual Elementary School (2026-27 school year).
Pay & Benefits

Pay Range: $20.20–$22.62 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. These rates are for the 2025-26 school year and will be updated for the 2026-27 school year when approved.

Hours per day: 6 hours. Work calendar days: 185. Duration: Ongoing.

Summary

Responsible for coordinating and collaborating with the school nurse to provide health care, first aid, medications, and medical procedures to students. Maintain and compile student health records, files database, and health‑related reports and documents.

Job Tasks
  • Evaluate and attend to students visiting the health office; provide emergency and routine health care and/or first aid, administer medications via needle, feeding tubes, rectal, oral, or topical routes following district and state procedures, and perform delegated medical procedures. Contact parents and school nurse as needed. Collaborate with building administration and nurse when calling 911.
  • Maintain health office records, including all office visits, phone calls, collection and uploading of Health Care Action Plans (HCAPs), immunizations, medications, vision and hearing results and referrals, cumulative health information, and accident and injury records.
  • Enter data into the computerized health office log to document student visits, procedures, and medication administration, and the action taken/dispensed in real time.
  • Coordinate student health needs between teachers, nurses, and parents.
  • Maintain health office cleanliness, take inventory, and order supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Prepare medications for all school-sponsored trips. Coordinate with trip sponsor and nurse to ensure adequate time for delegation.
  • Assist in maintaining health records, coordinating screenings, and providing health services to pre-K students as needed in elementary schools.
  • Type correspondence, newsletters, forms, and memos in collaboration with the school nurse.
  • Conduct student vision and hearing screenings; assist with planning, preparation, participation, and follow-up on all referrals in collaboration with the school nurse.
  • Gather data and prepare reports, including health condition reports, immunization reports, and hearing and vision screenings. Work with the nurse on monthly medication audits, run reports, and double‑count to ensure accurate medication counts.
  • Attend required training classes and district health technician meetings. Complete online professional development training as required.
  • Assist in notifying parents of immunization and exemption requirements. Gather immunization records and enter into electronic record.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Licenses Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of related healthcare and office experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and life experience acceptable.
  • Prior medical experience such as CNA or MA certification preferred.
  • Successful completion of First Aid, CPR, and Administering Medication in a School Setting certifications; if not currently certified, completion must occur at earliest convenience after hire.
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
