Job summary

York County School Division is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide speech and language therapy to students with disabilities. The incumbent will diagnose and treat articulation, language, fluency, voice and hearing impairments, and coordinate with families and school teams to support inclusive services.

Responsibilities include caseload management, collaboration with teachers and specialists, and the use of state-of-the-art assistive technology.

Qualifications

• Active license in speech-language pathology (BASLP) required.
• Knowledge and experience with state-of-the-art assistive technology related to communication.
• Willingness to work with all students.
• Demonstrated high moral standards and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and teach students with communicative disorders including articulation, language, fluency, voice and hearing impairments.
• Utilize organizational skills to manage caseloads.
• Coordinate home intervention services and consultative services for students and parents.
• Utilize effective oral and written communication with colleagues, students and families.
• Manage varied caseloads in itinerant settings to provide direct and consultative services.
• Engage in ongoing staff development to support inclusive services.
• Utilize assistive technology related to communication.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Accountability and Instructional Services and building administrators.

Title:SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Position Type:Exempt

Primary Function:

Provide speech and language therapy services for students with disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Hold an active, valid license in speech-language pathology (full or school only) issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP).
• Knowledge and experience with state-of-the-art assistive technology related to communication.
• Have demonstrable work history of willingness to work with all students.
• Have demonstrable work history indicating high moral standards and integrity.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Assess, diagnose and teach students with communicative disorders including articulation, language, fluency voice and hearing impairments
• Utilize good organizational skills
• Coordinate home intervention services and consultative intervention for students and parents
• Utilize effective oral and written communication skills
• Manage varied caseloads within an itinerate position to provide consultative and direct services to students with disabilities
• Participate in ongoing staff development, to interact effectively with colleagues and administrators for the implementation of inclusive services for identified students as appropriate
• Utilize state-of-the-art assistive technology related to communication
• Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Accountability and Instructional Services and building administrators.

Reports to:

Director of Accountability and Instructional Services

Terms of Employment:

200 days a year. Salary according to the School Board Pay Plan.

Evaluation:

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of licensed personnel.
