The ICT SPED teacher will co‑teach alongside a general education teacher in an inclusion classroom setting to support all students in the classroom. The ICT teacher will co‑plan and deliver lessons that incorporate multiple learning modalities, adapt and modify instruction, and create strategies and meaningful interventions to support students’ learning. KIPP NYC is looking for teachers who combine the ability to motivate and educate, to develop academic as well as character skills, and to make a college preparatory education relevant both now and for the future.

• Constantly assessing student progress, communicating results to families and colleagues, and adjusting instruction accordingly.
• Providing individual or small group instruction for students who need additional assistance.

• Modeling KIPP NYC’s character strengths in all interactions and communications with students, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, hope, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor.
• At least two years of teaching experience is strongly preferred.
• New York State Special Education teacher certification is highly recommended.

Compensation and Benefits

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,829–$136,704. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role, NYS initial or professional certification, and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP NYC will evaluate a candidate’s years of experience, certification, and longevity at the point of hire to determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale.
