Job summary

Audubon-Schools is seeking a dedicated Teacher to provide engaging, high-quality educational experiences aligned with French and Louisiana State Standards. The role requires creating rigorous lesson plans, differentiating instruction, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure interdisciplinary connections and strong student outcomes.

The position reports to the Principal and is based at an assigned campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Certification or ability to gain certification as a Teacher in instructional area.
• Experience creating and successfully managing a classroom environment.
• Master’s degree in education or related field (preferred).
• Certification in multiple instructional areas (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Create lesson and unit plans that support instructional outcomes and reflect important concepts in the discipline.
• Create lesson and unit plans that accommodate prerequisite relationships among concepts and skills.
• Provide clear and accurate classroom explanations.
• Provide accurate answers to students’ questions.
• Provide feedback to students that furthers learning.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff for interdisciplinary connections.
• Ensure alignment of outcomes, activities and skills.
• Assess student mastery with appropriate assessments.
• Differentiate instruction for varied abilities including IEPs or 504 plans.
• Implement French and Louisiana State Standards lesson planning and common assessments as applicable.
• Respond promptly to inquiries from families, teachers and administrators.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with the LDOE teacher evaluation system.
• Maintain regular and effective communications with families regarding program and student progress.

Essential Functions:

• Create lesson and unit plans that support instructional outcomes and reflect important concepts in the discipline


• Create lesson and unit plans that accommodate prerequisite relationships among concepts and skills


• Provide clear and accurate classroom explanations


• Provide accurate answers to students’ questions


• Provide feedback to students that furthers learning


• Work with colleagues to assure interdisciplinary connections are planned and practiced


• Ensure educational outcomes are of a challenging cognitive level, central to the discipline, allow student choice, use varied resources, allow for thoughtfully planned learning groups and interdisciplinary in nature


• Ensure alignment of outcomes, activities and skills


• Ensure assessments adequately measure student mastery of presented content


• Plan and implement instructional outcomes which allow differentiation for students of varied abilities


• Implementation of French and Louisiana State Standards lesson planning and common assessment as applicable


• Collaborative work with teachers and staff, participation in PLCs (and “conseils de cycle” as applicable)


• Respond promptly to telephone and email inquiries from families, teachers and administrators.


• Perform other duties as assigned.


• Comply with expectations in the French accredited program (as applicable)

• Facilitate and encourage high levels of student participation in student led discussion


• Encourage and support student enthusiasm, interest, thinking, problem solving, etc.

• Create systems and routines that track student metrics to improve both academic and socio-emotional outcomes


• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress


• Comply by the school’s grading guidance and procedures


• Respect timeline for grades input for progress reports and report cards


• Maintain regular and effective communications with families regarding the program and student progress


• Regularly work with colleagues to share and plan for student success

Other Duties as Assigned:

• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the principal or other supervisors, including but not limited to:

• Assisting with school-wide events or initiatives.


• Providing coverage for other staff as needed.


• Contributing to the maintenance of a safe and clean school environment.

Work Hours and Compliance (Exempt Status):

• The Teacher role is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and responsibilities may occasionally extend beyond regular school hours.


• Teachers are expected to fulfill all professional obligations, including lesson preparation, grading, and participation in school events, without additional compensation for extended hours.

Education, Training and Experience:

REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree required


• Certification or ability to gain certification as a Teacher in instructional area Experience creating and successfully managing a classroom environment

PREFERRED

• Master’s degree in education or related field


• Certification in multiple instructional areas


• Experience in and/or understanding of the public school system including charter schools
