Yu Ming Charter School is a non-profit, tuition-free network of public schools located in Oakland and San Leandro and open to all residents of California. RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Support

• Deliver instruction in all academic areas based on the provided lesson plans
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
• Supervise students in the classroom, cafeteria, playground, or during transitions
• Uphold and reinforce school-wide expectations and routines to support student safety and engagement

School Operations & Administrative Support

• Provide general administrative support to school staff, including the Office Manager (e.g., making copies, organizing materials, running errands on campus)
• Assist with managing student materials, supplies, and classroom organization
• Support in preparing for school events and activities

School Community & Campus Support

• Serve as a flexible team member who may be asked to assist with various duties including arrival/dismissal, lunch/recess coverage, and transitions
• Step in to support any area of need to ensure smooth school operations and a positive school culture
• Model Yu Ming’s core values in interactions with students, staff, and families

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• B.A. or B.S.
• Appropriate California substitute teaching permit

Preferred

• Experience as a substitute or classroom teacher highly preferred
• Superb interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively
• Flexibility and adaptability to change
• Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a solutions-oriented attitude

TIME COMMITMENT

180-day school year, 8 student-free professional development days for collaboration with colleagues. Common building hours are 8:00am-3:30pm Monday, 8:00am-4:00pm Tuesday-Friday.

COMPENSATION

$37/hr plus comprehensive benefits for full time employees and dependents
