This posting is not for a specific position with the Edmonds School District. When filling positions, the Hiring Administrator will be hiring directly out of this pool job vacancy.

Interpreters who currently do not have a 4.0 EPA score or have yet to pass the RID are encouraged to apply to our DHH Para II Pool Posting.

Position Information

Educational interpreters use sign language and voice interpretation to facilitate communication between Deaf and hard of hearing students and others, including peers, teachers and other staff within the educational environment.

Shift Details: 180 day calendar

Continuing & Non-Continuing Positions: This is a pool posting for numerous open positions. The status, work locations, work hours, and work schedules will be determined by the specific vacancy the applicant accepts.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hourly Rate: $46.20 per hour (2025-2026 Professional-Technical Salary Schedule) [Effective Sept. 1, 2026: $48.00 per hour]

Position Type/Level: Professional-Technical Level D

Required Qualifications

Licenses/Special Requirements:

  • Completion of a recognized interpreter training program and minimum 4.0 score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) and passing score on the written test
  • Interpreting Certificate (NIC) with RID certification and Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) passing score on the written test.
Benefits

The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) provides access to health care services. Our benefits are provided to eligible positions through SEBB (School Employees Benefits Board). Eligibility for SEBB state health insurance coverage is determined by working 630 hours during the school year. Eligibility for a state retirement plan through the Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) is determined upon hire and is based on a variety of factors.
