Texans Can Academies in Houston is seeking a dedicated teacher to provide learning activities that foster intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The role focuses on helping students develop competencies to function successfully in society.

Bachelor’s degree with ≥24 science hours; TX teaching certificate preferred but not required. Strong communication with students and adults and the ability to work with large groups are valued.

Responsabilités

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to district curriculum with written prep evidence.
• Prepare lessons with accommodations for different learners.
• Present material per Texans Can’s methodologies.
• Conduct regular student assessments and maintain gradebook.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs.
• Understand IEP requirements to successfully deliver material.
• Work with staff to set instructional goals and objectives.
• Plan and supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
• Utilize technology effectively when working with students.
• Participate in all instructional activities.

Primary Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 24 hours in either science,physics or related fields
• Valid Texas teaching certificate preferred, not required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Knowledge of subjects assigned
• Willingness to learn what is required to become a successful teacher
• An ability to communicate effectively with students and adults
• The ability to work with large groups of people

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for different learners.
• Present subject matter according to the requirements of Texans Can’s methodologies.
• Conduct student assessments regularly and maintain an up-to-date studentgradebook.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Learn the requirements of the need for an Individual Education Plan in order to successfully deliver the instructional material to the special education students.
• Work with other members of staff to establish instructional goals and objectives.
• Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
• Learn to use technology effectively when working with students.
• Participate in all instructional activities.

• Any and all requirements necessary to fulfill therole of a teacher.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
