Job summary

Planate Management Group in Grand Junction, CO, is seeking Construction Engineering Technicians to support VA Hospital Grand Junction under contract with Davenergy. You will monitor contract compliance and report key issues to management.

On-site at a medical facility, you will perform field inspections, support the construction manager, and track deficiencies to resolve them. This role emphasizes safety, quality control, and coordination with contractors for ongoing projects.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or trade school graduate; 10 years direct related experience may substitute for education.
  • 3 years of engineering technician experience including inspection and contractor oversight in facilities.
  • Ability to organize project documents and develop progress reports.
  • Understanding of local codes; safety and quality control processes.
  • Experience tracking resolution of quality and safety issues.
  • Familiarity with RFI, change orders, submittals logs, etc.
  • Field knowledge of safety, scheduling and cost control is desired.
  • Healthcare facility experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
  • OSHA 30-hour training certificate desired.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure documentation of construction progress and support the construction manager in quality-control tests and inspections.
  • Support the Construction Superintendent in advising the client on required management actions.
  • Monitor means and methods of the construction contractor, ensuring contractual, safety, and quality compliance.
  • Perform field inspections to review construction work and compliance with design, UFCs and safety requirements.
  • Identify and track deficiencies and deviations from plans; collaborate to mitigate and resolve.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Job description

Planate Management Groupis a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, USA with a technical support center in the Philippines that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies.

We are looking for Construction Engineering Technicians to support the VA Hospital Grand Junction, under contract with Davenergy. You will represent Planate to our clients by providing information and reports, as required. This position is responsible for monitoring contract compliance of contractors in the completion of construction work and project schedule on behalf of the facility owner for multiple projects, and reports on key issues to the management team.

The work assignment will be on-site in Grand Junction, CO at a medical facility.

Key responsibilities:
  • Ensure documentation of construction progress and supports the construction manager in the execution of quality-control tests and inspections
  • Supports the Construction Superintendent in advising the client on required management actions
  • Monitors the means and methods of the construction contractor, monitoring compliance with contractual, safety, and quality requirements
  • Perform field inspections to review the construction work and review compliance with the design, UFC’s and safety requirements
  • Identifies and tracks deficiencies and deviations from plans; works with the construction team to mitigate and resolve
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications To be successful in the role:
  • Associate Degree or graduate of an accredited Trade School or formal construction apprenticeship program
  • The educational requirement may be substituted by 10 years of directly related experience
  • 3 years of experience as an engineering technician including inspection and contractor oversight activities associated with facilities (i.e., buildings, structures, equipment, systems, etc.)
  • Ability to organize project documents, develop progress reports, and document issues
  • Understanding of local codes and requirements, safety requirements, and quality control processes
  • Experience tracking the resolution of quality and safety issues, and supporting management in the resolution of those issues
  • Familiarity with handling project management documents such as RFI, change orders, submittals logs, etc.
  • Field knowledge of safety, scheduling, and cost control is desired
  • Healthcare Facility experience is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents
  • Current OSHA 30-hour training certificate desired
